Two big things happened last week that made my momma heart proud. Harrison got recognized once again for being a leader at school and report cards came out.

STAR stands for Students Taking Action and Responsibility. Harrison has received this award three times! in First grade, Fifth grade and now in sixth grade.

These awards were a bit different from elementary school. This time it was a luncheon held at the Marriott and medals were given.

There are over 900 students in Harrison's school. 9 were chosen to receive a STAR award. Harrison received his for the work he does on the principal's advisory committee, along with these two other students. His principal is standing behind him.

It was such a nice way to be recognized and celebrated. Way to go Harrison!

To celebrate three fantastic report cards, we went to the park and then got ice cream.

What a happy coincidence that Ben & Jerry's was giving out free ice cream on the same day that report cards came home!

Both Harrison and Leo made the A B honor roll and Grace received great marks as well. Elementary school report cards have spaces for teacher comments. Grace's teacher wrote: "Grace is a sweet and caring young lady and I have enjoyed watching
her come out of her shell more this marking period. In reading, she consistently knows all letters and letter sounds. She uses
this knowledge to read many words and is increasing her knowledge
of irregular words. In writing, Grace has been working hard to
increase the legibility of her writing. She is writing using many
beginning, ending and medial sounds, uses good spacing and
attempts punctuation. In
math, Grace is able to count a group of objects and write
the corresponding numeral for groups up to 20. She can solve simple
word problems, understands fair share, and can provide multiple
ways to make a given number up to 10. In science and social studies,
Grace learned about water, jobs, needs and wants, and presidents
this marking period. She demonstrated mastery of all of these topics.
I am excited to see her continued growth during the final marking
period!"
Leo's teacher wrote: "Leo has had an excellent quarter, particularly shining in reading and math with A grades in both. His performance in reading reflects a
strong ability to identify organizational patterns and effectively use
various forms of information to develop and support his topics. This
skill has been crucial in his ability to understand and summarize
complex texts, demonstrating advanced comprehension and
analytical abilities. In math, Leo’s A grade signifies his strong grasp of geometry, parts of
a circle, and his adeptness at calculating perimeter, area, and
volume. His proficiency in these areas shows not only a good
understanding of mathematical concepts but also an ability to apply
them in different contexts. I am so proud of Leo! His dedication and consistent performance
across subjects are commendable."
Now that's a reason to do a cartwheel!
