February extras

the leotard given to all the gymnasts that competed at the first meet
Leo is constantly leaving me surprise pictures on my phone.
We had several snowfalls in February.  Most were insignificant.
I took Harrison to see his band teacher perform in a jazz concert.

super proud!

As a parent, my heart always stops for a second when I see the school is calling.  Leo's math teacher called me to not only report how good Leo is doing in his class, but to also tell me that Leo spoke in front of the class (which he absolutely hates and almost never does) and explained the math problem better than the teacher could have.  The teacher couldn't say enough good things about Leo.  What wonderful things to hear about your child!  It was an unexpected gift.  When Leo got home, I asked if he knew that his teacher called me.  He didn't.  I told him that he could have the bag of M&Ms that he had been eyeing for a week and I was saving to make cookies with them.  I had to take a picture to remember this outstanding moment and to encourage me when I can't get Leo to do his homework.

Harrison had a pre-assessment band concert, and parents were allowed to attend.  He sounded amazing!

The kids give me so many reasons to be a proud mama!

no school days

Two of our recent no school days were spent at the bounce house & trampoline park.  Leo & Grace were all in.  Harrison was not.

Valentine's Day

We love love around here!  Grace was excited about getting all her Valentines ready for her classmates.
She had a haul from school!
Jeff made a special Valentine's breakfast and we made Valentine's cookies.
Grace & I had a special date with Jeff.  💘
Because of how Jeff & I have built our family, our kids (and us too) have so many people who love them.  It's truly remarkable how decisions motivated by love have profoundly changed all of our lives!
Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year were on the same day, only three days after Valentine's Day.  A King Cake and beads were all we were able to do to mark the occasion.

school stuff

Two big things happened last week at school.  It was the 100th day of school, which means that the school year is more than half-way over.  Grace dressed up like she was 100 years old.  It's times like this where she really wishes that she & Leo were still at the same school.  She hates dressing up by herself.
Her school also had a pink day (let's face it, nearly every day is pink day for Grace).
The biggest thing last week was that report cards came out.  Harrison made the A-B honor roll.  Once again, barely missing out on straight As.  Leo made the B honor roll.  And Grace doesn't get letter grades yet but had wonderful comments on her report card.  Another successful marking period in the books.
All of the second graders in the school district get swim lessons at the YMCA during the school day.  Isn't that cool?!  Grace's turn was two weeks ago.  They spent four days learning the basics.  Grace had fun even though she already knew how to swim.  Her teacher sent me the picture.

indoor soccer

Winter indoor soccer has finally come to an end.
his awesome first coach and awesome current coaches and team (minus 1)
This team won every game except for one when Leo didn't play because he had the flu.
Jeff was the assistance coach again.
I was only able to make it to two of his games, one being the last of the season.  He scored three goals in that game!  He scored in all the games he played, except for one.  It was a great season for him!
