We took the kids out of school on Friday and headed up to Delaware.

We spent the night in Delaware so that Leo could have a visit with his birth family. Sadly, his birth father passed away this year. Although Leo has no memories of him, he now can know his birth father through the rest of his family. We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet Leo's grandmother, aunt and many cousins. It was the first time (other than as a baby) that Leo has been able to wrap his arms around someone who shares his DNA. That was pretty special! We were able to learn about Leo's birth family, which is HUGE, and about the family characteristics that Leo has inherited.

Not only did Leo feel the immense love they have for him, his grandmother gave Leo some of his birth father's clothes, including this hat. Again, that was pretty special!

We also loved hearing how much Leo looks like, talks like, acts like and the mannerisms he has like his birth father. We had never before seen a picture of his birth father as a child. So many doors have opened up for Leo to his family and we couldn't be more grateful!

And this is Leo and his paternal grandfather.
Delaware did not disappoint!
