December extras

December did not disappoint.  It was a busy but really good month.
Harrison's new sweatshirt and Grace's kitchen art that was also on the walls and floor.  Thank goodness for washable markers!
When you have older brothers, this is your dress up.
We met Leo's teacher in a parking lot so he could give her a Christmas present.
My sister came for Christmas.  She did lots of fun things with the kids, including taking Grace to the museum while the boys were out with Jeff.
The middle picture is taken from the outside looking in the window.
Too bad the one picture Aunt Becky got with all the kids was blurry because Grace wasn't in the picture taking mood.
Leo looking at Jeff, be still my heart!
Another trip to the museum, this time with Lizzie.
We never know what Leo will come up with but since he was doing it, Grace wanted to do it as well.

And now, to record what we did that (I believe) made it such a wonderful Christmas season.  We made giving (kindness, love, service) a priority.  With that shift, I noticed a big difference in what gave us joy.
At the beginning of December we decided to do something nice for our mailman.  He's super nice and always leaves treats for the kids.  The boys made him a card and we gave him his favorite candy bar.  We also put out some snacks for delivery people.  I think they liked it because we had to refill it several times.  Apparently we ordered a lot of stuff.
The kids had a lot of input on what we did.  I loved hearing what they enjoyed most about our month of service.  Leo said paying for the car behind us at Wendy's and Burger King and dropping off food at the food drive.  Harrison said donating toys to the police special victims unit and giving a homeless man a bag.
Grace seemed to like when we all looked in our wallets and banks to donate to St. Jude's.
We also personally dropped off gifts and treats (most of them homemade) to 31 individuals and families. The boys liked helping deliver and see the look on people's faces, even if it was from a distance.  I liked feeling like we were making a difference and brightening someone's day.  I sure hope all of our good vibes roll over to 2021.  What a blessing to end the year on a high note.

more Christmas fun

We baked a lot this Christmas.  The kids enjoyed decorating the gingerbread cookies.
Our ceramic nativity set looked like a new toy to Grace.  She kept trying to play with it and (accidentally) killed a wise man.  Once she finally understood that we needed to keep baby Jesus safe.  She used Batman, the Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig, among other things, to protect baby Jesus.
Christmas lights are always a favorite.
The boys thought the fake snow machines were pretty cool.
We drove through the city park lights, walked around all the Christmas lights and decorations at the fountain and danced to the synchronized lights and music in the neighborhood.
(video 1) Leo has literally had hours of fun with all the wrestling stuff he now has.
(video 2) Grace wanted to wear her golden shoes with her Christmas outfit.  An added bonus was the sound they make when she walks.
It's definitely been a holly jolly Christmas and the best time of the year!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day was everything I hoped it would be.  No one had unkind words, jealousy or any animosity whatsoever.  Everyone was happy, content and relaxed. At the end of the day Jeff and I were talking about what a peaceful day it was.   It felt like we were living a true Christmas miracle of  "peace on the earth, goodwill to man" and I soaked up every second of it.  It is the season to be jolly after all.
Of course the boys were awake early and eager to go downstairs.  They got to open and enjoy their presents while Grace slept.
Grace had no idea what she was walking into.  She took her time and played with everything before moving on to the next.
The kids played all day long.  Not once did I hear someone say they were bored.
These are the holidays that I used to dream about but never thought I would actually get to experience.  Joy to the world!
