trick or treating

We had already scheduled to go trick-or-treating in Colonial Williamsburg again this year and then Leo got sick.  So Jeff took Harrison while I stayed home with Leo.  They came home with so much candy.

They had a great time, even on the shuttle.
The boys each got to pick what they wanted Jeff to draw on their pumpkins.  Harrison chose a dinosaur (his school mascot) and Leo wanted a lion.
And they were happy to wear their costumes one last time.

We had planned on everyone staying home on Halloween night and letting the boys hand out the treats but since Leo didn't get to go trick-or-treating two nights ago, Jeff took him out while Harrison and I stayed home.  Both the boys were fine with that.
Harrison took his door duty seriously.
Leo was so happy that he got a turn to go trick-or-treating.  He came home all smiles.

This is Leo's loot after only thirty minutes.  His safe candy (allergen free) is in the bucket and the unsafe on the table.

Halloween fun

Leo had his preschool Halloween costume parade and party.  It was pretty cute.  He was a firefighter if you couldn't tell.

Each kid got to take home a pumpkin.  They were hidden all over the playground and the kids had to hunt for them.
Then we headed over to Harrison's school for their red ribbon week "Say No to Drugs" parade.  Leo & I went straight to Harrison's classroom and he didn't realize we were there for about 5 minutes.  I enjoyed observing him interacting with his friends.  Once he realized that we were there, he introduced us to all his friends.  This is Madison.  It looks like they are Lego buddies.  It was also superhero day so the kids were supposed to dress accordingly.
Harrison's class played instruments in the parade.  I thought it was really sweet that Harrison's teachers let Leo pick out an instrument to play with the class as they marched around the school.
That night we had our church Halloween party.  Harrison wanted to be an Army police officer this year.  That was perfect since he was a soldier last year.  All I had to do was get some police stuff.  By the way, he's holding a little notebook so he can write tickets.  His favorite thing about his costume was the whistle on his dogtags.  He walked around with it in his mouth the whole night.
Leo won a prize for his costume.
The next morning was Harrison's fall festival at school.  Leo wasn't feeling well so he didn't get to go.  The first thing Harrison wanted to show me was the playground.
What a busy couple of days!

Leo's favorite songs

These are currently Leo's two favorite songs.
He sings "I am a child of God" all the time, no matter where we are and "Ice Ice Baby" comes out when I least expect it.  Even though he sings a lot, it took a while for him to let me record it.

colors

At Harrison's school they have a color day once a week.  So far they've had six days where they wear a specific color.  (green, red, yellow, pink, black, orange)  I try to give him a few choices but he gets the final pick on what he wears that day.
Leo has had three color days at preschool so far.  (blue, black, orange)
The thing about taking these pictures is that sometimes I have to take a different picture that they want so they will pose for the one that I want.  Harrison wanted to pose outside with his Army bag and Leo wanted to photo bomb.  And, when Harrison has a color day, Leo likes to wear that color too.

pumpkin patch

I was so happy that we had a beautiful day to pick pumpkins.  The ferry ride wasn't cold and there were lots of hungry seagulls following the boat.  The boys love throwing bread to the birds off the ferry.  We went with another family which made it even more fun.

We let the boys pick out their own pumpkin.  I'm not sure why but it was super hard for them to find the perfect one.

Addie is in Harrison's class at school and they ride the bus together.
That's weird how Jeff & Harrison look like they have orange paint on their face....but they don't.
So the field directly behind Leo between where the pumpkins end and the tree line begins, are peanuts, or as we called it, the field of death.
What a cute scarecrow!
And the grand finale, homemade pumpkin ice cream.  It was yummy and so are these two!
Our voyage home was darker and cooler.

new dinosaur park

Our museum added a permanent outdoor dinosaur exhibit.  It was really well done.  We'll have lots of fun playing there on all our future visits.
Lots of hands on things that the boys loved:  building, digging, climbing and tons of dinosaurs.
On the way home we stopped at a new playground.
