Happy Birthday Leo & Easter Sunday

Because Easter Sunday fell on Leo's birthday this year, it was a really full day.  Even though we already had his party, we still tried to make it his special day.  He chose monkey bread for breakfast and got to eat it off of the "star of the day" plate.  He also got to pick what we had for dinner so macaroni & cheese it was.   He picked out special treats to bring to his class at church and there got recognized for his birthday.  He received several special phone calls, cards & presents.

Showing some of the treasures from their Easter baskets.
All dressed up in their best for church.
After church we made resurrection rolls (which were a HUGE hit).  See the empty tomb?  Then we dyed eggs which was a little tricky since Leo is allergic to them and couldn't touch them.  He still enjoyed rolling the eggs around in the dye.  Of course the boys always love an excuse to take off most of their clothes.
The finished product.  Harrison did the eggs in the bowl at preschool.
Leo thought everything we did special today was for his birthday, including dressing up, getting Easter baskets & dying the eggs.  He's certainly worth celebrating!

Easter egg hunts

Between the two kids, we participated in five Easter egg hunts.  Harrison had one at preschool and one at Al's Pals.  Then we had a community one, one at a friend's house and one that Jeff & Harrison accidentally found when I sent them to the grocery store.  Harrison kept saying that he was going to pick eggs.
Leo would shake every egg that he found and if it didn't feel like something was in it, he threw it down.  That was pointed out to us several times by onlookers.
Good thing Leo wasn't at this hunt because I think he would have freaked out over this bunny.
By the end of the week we had so many plastic eggs with so many things Leo couldn't eat.  Thank goodness for our friends hosting a hunt with non-food treats in the eggs.

Palm Sunday

After church today I wanted to take a picture of Harrison with the palm branch he made in front of our palm plant.
Leo decided he wanted to be in the picture too.
And that would be him jumping in front of Harrison and popping his head up.
Then I took his picture.
And today being the first day of spring was rainy and cold.

St. Patrick's Day

The boys thought it was awesome having green food for breakfast.  That's oatmeal for Leo and green milk for Harrison's cereal.  Now they want me to put color in their food every morning.
Harrison made sure that we were all wearing green when we got ready because for some reason he thought you would get pinched by a parade if you didn't.
Later we went to the park.
This is Harrison's I don't want you to take my picture face.  I told him to give me a mad face and then a happy face.  He was willing to do that.
The other part of St. Patrick's Day was that a leprechaun visited Harrison's class at school and caused all kinds of mischief.  He thought it was pretty great and tried to recreate that mischief at home and blame it on a leprechaun.

gymnastics

Wednesday was the last class in the Winter/Spring session of gymnastics for Leo.  Jeff got to come to this one.  He agreed with me that Leo's the best one in the class.  The next session starts in April and Leo will move up to the three year old class which will be without a parent.  I'm anxious to see how he does in that one.
Bars are a favorite.
On this one he does a front flip and then has to hold himself up.  I love his tongue out and toes pointed.
He was the only one who could do a handstand all by himself.
At the end of nearly every class Leo cried when it was time to go.  He loves gymnastics that much.  I loved that it was a safe way for him to burn some energy.

Oh deer, free ice cream

We went for a walk in the park with some friends and happened upon this deer family.  They didn't seem very afraid, especially when we pulled out the crackers.
On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen because it was free cone day.

Leo's birthday party

Leo's birthday party was Saturday.  The party was with two of his friends that all have birthdays close together.  The theme was pirates and princesses.  It was held at the facility where we go to playgroup.
The pirate costumes didn't last long.  I thought they were cute but the boys were anxious to take them off.
With three moms in charge of the party my job was the food.
The bounce house on the playground was a HUGE hit!
The kids did a treasure hunt which led them back inside for the cake and presents.
The last fun thing at the party was deflating the bouncy.  The boys really loved getting all the air out.
It was such a fun party for Leo to share with his friends.  He keeps asking to go back to his party.  Since Leo's birthday is on Easter this year I'm glad we were able to celebrate his birthday a little early.
