aquatic center

The boys love coming here and we all had a great time.
These are the kinds of pictures I also try to take with my heart.

What is going on?

The week started with a trip to the doctor because Harrison woke up with his left eye almost swollen shut.  He'd had a small red mark on his upper eyelid after helping Jeff work in the yard but it didn't seem like anything to worry about.  The doctor said it was probably a spider bite.  He's on ten days of antibiotics which cleared it up almost immediately.  He never complained about it hurting but he sure didn't want me to touch it.
Two days later there was a sippy cup accident on the way home from the park which left Harrison with a cut under his other eye (and later a bruise).  Earlier that day I had to call poison control for the first time in my life because Harrison decided to drink half a bottle of Benadryl.  Luckily that wasn't enough to harm him...only scare me half to death!!
The next day Leo started acting like he didn't feel good and seemed warm.  I took his temperature and it was 101.1.  That lasted until the next day when all of the sudden he woke up from his nap with no fever and full of energy.
This was right after he woke up.  He's only wearing underpants, hence the blanket around his waste.

appreciation

I was gone all weekend taking Lauren back home to Illinois.  Jeff had everything by himself for three days.  Honestly, I was expecting him to do the bear minimum while I was away but he didn't.  Not only did he take the boys out to do fun things, but he also got their hair cut, cleaned the house, did the laundry and tried to make things as stress-free as possible for my return.  What a nice surprise!  I know that when I'm away (which is hardly ever) that Jeff sure seems to appreciate me more when I get back.  Well, this time it was me who realized how much Jeff does even when it's not expected.

cousin Lauren's visit part 3

It was a given that we would go to the beach at least once while Lauren was here.
This is the little beach closest to our house.  There were no waves and no wind, only blistering hot sun.
We went to the big beach a few days before she left.  It was a perfect beach day with good waves, clear warm water and the beach almost totally to ourselves.
 It was a great day.

cousin Lauren's visit part 2

Lauren built nests for Leo again and again and again per his request.  He quite enjoyed laying on them, tearing them apart and then asking her to build one again.
We took her to the museum where she got to touch a snake.  That's Harrison's head at the bottom of the picture.  Leo didn't want to participate.
We went to a birthday party at the park/farm.
You can see the wet spot on Harrison's bottom from the slide.
This albino peacock terrorized Leo throughout the party.  He kept telling it to go away and roaring at it.
Harrison trying to climb a tree.
We also took Lauren to feed the ducks.
At one point we counted over 40 ducks wanting to be fed.
For some reason this bridge always makes the boys run.
Harrison lost a shoe along the way.
Of course, we also had to take her to the fire station.  She said she'd never been to one before.  She should be an expert on them now.

cousin Lauren's visit part 1

We did lots of fun things while Lauren was here.  The boys loved having her to play with them.  I think she enjoyed playing with them too, especially since she doesn't have any younger siblings.
We made several trips to the bounce house during her visit.
I love how Harrison wanted to take a rest on her lap.
We also went to the pool and splash park while she was here.
Leo is singing the Mickey Mouse clubhouse song in the video.
Mostly all Harrison wanted to do was put water in his mouth and spit it out.  This is the reason we ultimately had to leave earlier than planned.  Spitting on people is a not allowed.
