pinewood derby

The boys had so much fun at the pinewood derby last year that they couldn't wait to do it again this year.  Leo wanted to use the same car but Harrison wanted to make a new one so he & Jeff worked on an Army police vehicle (far right).  That car won third place overall in the races and "most patriotic".  Leo's car (which I didn't get a picture of) didn't win any races but did get judge's favorite.
Watching the races was a lot of fun.
There was even a little photo-op set up.  We were asked to bring our play car for decoration.  All the kids there loved it.  Good thing Jeff disconnected the battery.

feeling the love

I am so proud of Harrison!  This is the first thing Harrison has written on his own other than his name.  He asked Jeff how to spell the words and wrote it all down.  Then he put it in an envelope that he decorated and presented it to me.
And, Leo learned about the word "annoyed" at preschool and what to do if someone annoys you, etc.  He drew a picture of what annoys him.  I feel the love.

Presidents' Day & Legos

Leo learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln this week.
Every time he told me about George Washington and the cherry tree, the story became more dramatic.  This time he threw in Marshall from Paw Patrol.
Then Harrison wanted to tell me about his Legos.  It's not often that you see a combination firetruck/garbage truck!

February color days

Harrison's color days for February were:  pink, black, red and purple.
 Leo had a red day.

Sun-day

The weather couldn't have been more beautiful on Sunday!  I thought the boys looked awfully cute for church so I took them on the deck to get a quick picture.  It was too bright for Leo so Harrison had to help him look up.  Harrison couldn't exactly keep his eyes open either.
After church we went for a nature walk out by the boat launch nearby.
We tried to get some fish to eat our crackers but didn't have any takers.  The seagulls however, were more than happy to eat what we had.
I love days like this.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day takes on a whole new meaning with these two!
I made them heart-shaped pancakes and pink milk for breakfast.
Jeff decorated the back door before he went to work with hearts that he and the boys had made.
He wrote down what the boys told him on each heart.
My lover boys ready for school and Leo at his preschool party.

creating

We have some of these magnetic tiles at home but they like to build with them at the art center because of the light table.
at the Home Depot kids workshop
Leo is always creating something with his toys.
After he started arranging things he asked me to take some pictures.
And here's the finished product...a toy parade.  If only the finished product included clothes!

this & that

Harrison & Leo at their friends' baby sister's first birthday party.
Outside on a nice day.
Leo said he wasn't feeling well and wanted to wear pajamas and he wanted me to push him in the swing.  All Harrison wanted to do was look for worms.
Two of Leo's favorite toys, Finn McMissile and Ripslinger.

Leo's with one of his twin friends.
Harrison declared that this was what he wanted to wear to church every Sunday for the rest of the year.  We'll see how long that lasts.

serve & protect

Right now, Leo wants to be a firefighter and Harrison wants to be a police officer when they grow up.  So when there was a teacher work day with no school, we made some treats and took them to the fire station and police station.  Harrison made sure to bring his police car for comparison.  This officer was so nice and answered all of Harrison's questions.
She walked us out to one of the cars that was already open.  She asked if the boys wanted to turn on the lights and Leo jumped right in.  He was only supposed to press the button for the lights but also turned on the siren and air horn.
Then we headed over to the fire station.  We've been there so many times that they pretty much let the boys go and see what they want.  Leo was in the ladder truck, found this helmet and put it on.  That didn't surprise me.  What did surprise me was the weight of the helmet.  It was pretty heavy for a three-year-old to pick up and put on his head!
A few days later we went to the park and who did we see?...a park ranger.   Leo spotted him but only Harrison wanted a picture with him.
We also fed the birds (Doesn't it look like a bird is standing on Leo's head?) and some deer.  By the way, deer love vanilla wafers.
