Band has been in full swing since before school. They had battle of the bands the Saturday before school started and have already played at one football game.
High school didn't have an open house before school. Middle school did but Leo absolutely refused to let his picture be taken there. Grace was so happy at her open house because she is back with one of her favorite teachers, Mrs. Bowman. She had her for first grade. Mrs. Bowman moved to third grade last year and Grace was lucky enough to get her for third grade this year.
She has a lot of friends in her class.
Harrison started working out with the volleyball team at the beginning of August. They had tryouts and a few scrimmages all before school started. There first game was the first day of school. They've played four games now and won three of them. Harrison doesn't play a lot as a freshman but really enjoys being on the team.
Grace has been wanting to ride her bike to school by herself. We finally felt like she was ready. We practiced all weekend riding up to the school, locking her bike, etc. When the day finally came for her to ride by herself, I followed along behind her in the van. She did everything right!
After school, I rode my bike up to the school so I could ride back with her.
Once again, she did everything right! She's officially a school bike rider now. I don't know if I can handle all this independence. 😢
The first day of school came fast. This year (and only this year) we have a child in high school, middle school, and elementary school. Their schools start at 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM respectively.
Harrison is the first to leave in the morning.
Not only does he have to bring his backpack with his school-issued laptop, he also has to bring his trumpet and volleyball gear to and from.
Leo leaves about an hour after Harrison.
Grace leaves about an hour after Leo.
She was so excited to start third grade!
It was ALL smiles from these two after school. They had a great first day! Harrison didn't make it home until 10:00 that night because he had a volleyball game an hour away on the first day of school! He told me it was good, though.
