I love it when holidays create a long weekend. We were able to do a lot as a family this 4th of July weekend because Jeff had an extra day off. Our first patriotic activity was going to Yorktown to learn about one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and to see the victory monument where the last major battle of the Revolutionary War was fought and won.

Harrison loved the cannon balls remaining in some of the houses from the Revolutionary War.

I hoped the kids got a sense of what it means to love your country and fight for freedom.
On the 4th of July we exercised our freedom of religion. Jeff wore his military uniform to church. The kids love seeing him wear it.

We love to celebrate our life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

We also celebrated our right to assemble (at the pool).

Is there anything more summer than swimming, watermelon and the 4th of July?
