We celebrated 31 years of Jeff's service in the Army National Guard and Reserves. He joined the National Guard before we were married to pay for college. Along the way, he was chosen Enlisted Soldier of the Year, selected for Officer Candidate School, met the Secretary of Defense, received numerous awards, had training exercises in other countries and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. All of this while holding down a fulltime job, among many other things.
We displayed all the uniforms he's had since he joined and his grandfather's WWII uniform.
It was wonderful seeing so many of our friends and family congratulating Jeff.
Jeff's body armor (minus the metal plates) was out for people to try on.
We held the party at the Army Transportation Museum. Jeff is on the board there. The president and vice-president of the museum association came to the party.
We had this summary for a quick overview of Jeff's military career.
What a military career and what a relief that it's over!
