4th of July

We started our Independence Day with a pancake breakfast at church where Harrison & Jeff led a flag raising ceremony and the pledge of allegiance.
We took the kids to Colonial Williamsburg.  We started our tour at Bruton Church.
A plaque in the church reads: "With grateful devotion, Virginia here recalls the memory of the life and services of that noble band of patriots who consecrated themselves to the defense and preservation of the inalienable rights and charter liberties of the English colony in Virginia... These statesmen and warriors came here to find clearer vision and nobler courage and invoke upon their cause the blessings of their God..."
The kids didn't quite appreciate the historical significance of where we were but that's okay.  Hopefully they caught a little of the meaning of the day and had some fun.
We ended a very hot day with a late-night swim at the pool watching the fireworks.
We didn't eat our flag cake until 10 PM.  God bless America!
